Title: Generative AI in Education: From Research to Personalized, Real-World Applications
Abstract:
Generative AI is reshaping the educational landscape, calling for a shift from rapid adoption toward a careful exploration of its pedagogical implications. This lecture examines the development of reliable, privacy-compliant AI systems designed to support learners rather than replace them.
Drawing on real-world applications, the talk highlights tools such as PEER, which enhances writing motivation through automated feedback, and SAM, a context-aware AI mentor shown to improve knowledge retention. It also explores innovative approaches to detecting mind wandering in order to support learners’ concentration, ultimately advocating for responsible, human-centric integration of AI in education.
