At the forefront of climate innovation and international cooperation, NIGT is committed to shaping science-based strategies for a sustainable future.
The South Korea Mobility Program offers data science talents the opportunity to undertake a research stay of up to three months at the National Institute of Green Technology (NIGT) in Seoul. NGT provides a research-intensive setting dedicated to practical solutions and cross-disciplinary collaboration for advancing climate technology and policy.

About NST
National Research Council of Science and Technology (NST)
The National Research Council of Science and Technology (NST) currently brings together 23 leading research institutes active in a wide range of fields – from materials science, biotechnology, and energy to space exploration, robotics, and information and communication technologies.
It coordinates their strategic direction, fosters synergies among the institutes, and supports the government in shaping research and innovation strategies.
In doing so, NST plays a key role in advancing scientific excellence in areas of societal relevance and in transferring technological innovations to industry and society. In addition, it strengthens the international networks of Korean research and enables joint projects with leading research organizations worldwide.
The National Institute of Green Technology (NIGT), established in 2013 as an affiliated research center of KIST under the Ministry of Science and ICT, develops R&D policies for climate technologies and leads international cooperation in this field.
In 2022, NIGT was designated as the national center for policy support in climate change cooperation under the "Act for the Promotion of Climate Change Response Technology Development". Since then, it has further strengthened its role as a climate policy think tank, taking the lead in advancing carbon neutrality through strategic initiatives and global collaboration.
Research priorities:
The National Institute of Green Technology (NIGT) is a leading Korean research center dedicated to advancing climate change response technologies and policies.
Its research activities are centered around three key areas:
- Climate change policy and governance – providing scientific advice and policy support for national and international climate strategies.
- Low-carbon and carbon-neutral technologies – developing and evaluating technologies that contribute to greenhouse gas reduction and sustainable energy transition.
- International cooperation in climate technology – fostering global partnerships, technology transfer, and collaborative R&D to address climate challenges.
How to Apply
