A compact introduction to safe and effective AI use – now available to all Helmholtz employees
AI tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, and DeepL are already part of everyday work at many Helmholtz centres. At the same time, new questions arise: What data can I enter? And how reliable are the results?
This is exactly where the AI Literacy Training comes in. In just 45 to 60 minutes, employees of the Helmholtz Association learn how to use AI tools safely and responsibly in their daily work. The course meets the requirements of Article 4 of the EU AI Act and is available to all Helmholtz centres.

About the course
In this course, you follow Alex, a project coordinator at a Helmholtz center, through typical workplace scenarios. At key decision points, you choose how Alex proceeds and receive immediate feedback. This helps you build confidence step by step in using AI effectively in your daily work.
The course consists of five modules:
- Understand – What is AI and where does it appear in my daily work?
- Communicate – How do I formulate effective prompts for AI tools?
- Use safely – What data can I enter, and what should I avoid?
- Evaluate – How can I assess whether results are reliable?
- Apply – How do I use what I’ve learned in a typical work scenario?
