17.11.2022:

Career paths for bright minds

The Helmholtz Career Day for Data Science and IT brought qualified applicants together with Helmholtz centers.

Guests from all over the world visited the virtual career day to learn about job opportunities in IT and Data Science.

What a success! 609 participants from 77 countries were present when the Helmholtz Career Day for Data Science and IT took place on 15 November 2022.

The Helmholtz Information & Data Science Academy organized this virtual career day for the third time to give interested people the opportunity to network with over 50 hiring scientists from Helmholtz centers and recruiters. The focus was on career paths in IT and Data Science in the six research fields: Energy, Earth and Environment, Health, Aeronautics, Space and Transport, Matter and Information.

The goal: connecting bright minds from around the world with the centers.

Even before Career Day began, the amount of registrations showed that interest in a job in these career fields is greater than ever.

Special highlights this time were two keynotes and a panel. In these, Helmholtz researchers and partners spoke about their research, experiences and career paths. In addition, they answered the many questions of the audience.

"A career is never really complete. It's a journey in the making."

Julia Schnabel, Director of the Institute of Machine Learning in Biomedical Imaging at Helmholtz Munich

In the late afternoon, the Career Day offered scientists who had jobs and projects to offer the opportunity to exchange ideas with the participants in short video chat networkings.

In just under two hours, this resulted in almost 200 conversations. In addition, participants could learn more about the centers and partners in a virtual exhibition area- and who knows - possibly meet their future employer.

The Helmholtz Information & Data Science Academy is curious to know how many participants found new jobs at this year's Career Day at the 18 centers - please contact us if you do: hidacareerday@helmholtz.de.
